Electromagnetic compatibility – EMC

 

EMC testing is one of our most important services. A plan for verification of emission and immunity (susceptibility) properties is developed in co-opertion with the customer. This will take into account the characteristics of the equipment and the environment/application where the equipment will be used.

We can provide accredited third party testing according to both commercial and military EMC standards in both locations, – at Høvik and in Mandal.

We can also provide design/modification assistance if required. This is offered as a separate service to not mix third party testing with consultancy.

The EMC directive requires products to be constructed so that they:

  • Do not cause excessive electromagnetic interference.
  • Are not unduly affected by electromagnetic interference.

Such interference may typical be radiated emission or conducted emission on power- and signal cables. Products are tested according to the relevant international standards to verify compliance with the requirements. The test results will together with other technical documentation form the basis for declaring conformity with the directive, and affixing the CE mark on the product.

With our four shielded test chambers (Oslo og Mandal) and additional test stations for conducted immunity we are able to test according to most relevant commercial and military standards. With dedicated EMC facilities we are able to offer a complete EMC service, and also test all other aspects of your products. Our facilities includes

  • Emission measurement systems: 30 Hz to 18 GHz
  • Radiated Immunity test systems: 30 Hz to 18 GHz
  • Transient immunity test  systems: burst, surge and ESD
  • Voltage variations immunity test systems

We also provide pre-compliance testing and facilities/assistance during development testing.
